Seek And You Will Find

Matthew 7:7 ""Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

The Bible tells us to seek God, to seek a personal relationship with Him. We were created in God’s image to fellowship with Him, to worship Him and to glorify Him. We were created to be eternal beings in God’s image. That was lost to us when Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden. When this happened we all lost our right to eternal life and became a being with a limited existence. We lost our fellowship with the Father and a great void was left in each of us. For all of time since then we each have searched for some way to fill this void. The Bible teaches us that the only way is through Jesus Christ, Amen! Only accepting Jesus as your Savior and Lord will fill this void. Once we have found Jesus and accepted Him as Savior and Lord, it does not end there.

We are to continue to seek a closer personal walk with Father God, to fellowship with Him on a continuing basis.

Matthew 6:33; ""But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

We are to seek God and His righteousness first. Above all else we are to seek a strong intimate relationship with God the Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

James 4:7-8a: "Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…"

We are to first submit to, yield to, give into the Lord. We are to seek Him, draw near to Him and He will draw near to us.

Hebrews 6:11 "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

God responds to those who diligently seek Him. He rewards those who are in earnest about a more intimate relationship with Him. He rewards us with His presence, with all spiritual blessings "In Christ Jesus." That means everything Christ accomplished and purchased for us on the cross is ours. It includes eternal life, Christ dwelling richly in us, prosperity, health, peace, joy and wisdom among other things. Praise God!

When do we seek Him? We should seek Him continuously, daily, minute by minute.

However, the Word of God does list some specific reasons for us to diligently seek Him.

Psalms 63:1-8 "1. O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me."

We are to seek God when we are in a "dry and thirsty place" spiritually, emotionally or physically. We are to seek Him to see His power and glory manifested in our lives. We seek Him because His lovingkindness is better than life. We should praise Him for it!

God loves us with a never-ending love and He satisfies us with good things, both spiritually and physically. Thus our spirit and soul are satisfied, our spirit, our heart, is full of the Good things of God and out of the abundance of our heart we will worship and praise Him for His goodness and mercy. As the Psalm says, we need to remember and meditate on the good things God has done for us. This makes us stronger to face the next trial, it draws us closer to Him and He will uphold us with His right hand! Remember who is seated at His right Hand- Jesus, that is who upholds us with God’s power, who seats us far above everything else in Him, Jesus.

Deuteronomy 4:27-29: "And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you And there you will serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul."

Just as the nation of Israel was captive in foreign lands and worshipped false God's, so, too, in our lives do we come to a place where we are no longer dwelling in the shadow of the Almighty. We have stumbled into the darkness of the world and been drawn away from a close relationship with God. The enemy uses many things to draw us away from a closer relationship with God. A family crisis, financial crisis, job loss or job problems, children, or illness can be used to overcome us and draw us away. We get into that "foreign land" and get our eyes off God and onto something else as the answer.

But God promises us that in our distress He will not forsake us if we seek Him with all our heart and soul. We are given a specific promise, if we seek Him with everything is us we will find Him! Just as we read in James, we seek Him, draw near to Him and He will draw near to us! Then, when we find Him, turn to Him and obey what He tells us, then He will remember His promises to us, the covenant He made with us and be merciful to us and deliver us from our trials.

Deuteronomy 4:31 "for the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them."

1 Chronicles 16:34 "Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever."

Amos 5:4; "For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: "Seek Me and live;"

We are promised eternal life, we were created to be eternal beings and we have been given this gift through the redemptive work of Christ on the cross. Once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior your eternal life begins. It does not start the day you die physically but on the day you are born again spiritually! When we are born again we once again take our place as the eternal beings we were created to be, with the life of God indwelling in us! We become "aliens" in a foreign land (the world). Heaven now becomes our home and one day we will dwell there, but we start our eternal life now.

John 10:10: "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

God promises us an abundant life now! Abundant means more than enough. God has promised us "more than enough" life! A life full of more than enough joy, more than enough peace, more than enough health, more than enough to meet any need.

We are living in the eternal "more than enough" life now!! Jesus said the enemy came to kill, steal and destroy, but He came to give us life.

Accept all that the Lord Jesus has done for you; walk in the fullness of eternal life. Don’t let the thief steal from you any longer!

Seek the Lord and Walk with Him daily for He is a rewarder of these who seek Him!

If you want to know for sure that you are a child of God, then I would like to invite you to earnestly pray this prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Your word says, "…and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out." (Jn.6:37), So I know You won’t cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'' (Ro. 10:13).

I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, "…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation." (Ro.10:9,10).

I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord, Because Your Word says, "… with the heart one believes to righteousness…" and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21),

And I am saved! Thank You, Lord!

I can now truthfully say, I see myself as a born again child of God!

Glory to God!!!! Amen.
